Most Shopify brands know they should be testing. Few have the setup, traffic strategy, or technical resource to do it properly. That's where we come in. Through our SiteLab model, we give Shopify and Shopify Plus brands access to a dedicated experimentation team that plans, builds, runs, and reports on split tests across your entire store.
Every test is hypothesis-driven, statistically validated, and tied to commercial outcomes. We've run hundreds of experiments across product pages, checkout flows, navigation, homepage layouts, and more. We know what moves the needle on Shopify because we've tested it firsthand, across brands in fashion, beauty, lifestyle, homeware, and DTC.
Get in touchOur Process
Every experiment follows a structured, four-stage process. No guesswork, no vanity tests. Each step is built around your commercial goals and grounded in real user data.
We start with a full-store audit using heatmaps, session recordings, analytics data, and customer behaviour analysis. We map the entire user journey to identify where visitors drop off, where friction exists, and where the biggest revenue opportunities sit.
Every test begins with a clear hypothesis: what we’re changing, why we believe it will improve performance, and the metric we’re measuring against. We build a testing roadmap in collaboration with your team, prioritised by commercial impact.
Our designers and developers create the variant and deploy controlled experiments using tools like Shoplift, with clean traffic splitting and proper event tracking. Tests go live without disrupting your store’s performance.
We monitor every test until it reaches statistical significance. Winning variants get implemented permanently and the learnings feed directly into the next round of testing, creating a compounding cycle of improvement.
What We Test
Product page layout, imagery, trust signals, add-to-cart placement, and cross-sells. Collection page filtering, sort order, grid density, and merchandising. The pages where most browsing and buying decisions happen.
Cart drawer vs full cart page, upsell modules, shipping thresholds, payment options, and checkout flow optimisation to reduce abandonment.
Hero messaging, value propositions, navigation paths, content blocks, and promotional layouts that shape first impressions and click-through.
Menu structure, filtering, on-site search, and collection page layouts. How visitors find products directly affects conversion rate.
Mobile-specific layouts, tap targets, scroll behaviour, and speed optimisation. For most Shopify brands, 70%+ of traffic is mobile.
Discount presentation, bundle structures, loyalty incentives, and urgency messaging. Small changes in how offers are framed can shift AOV significantly.
Real Test Results
Product page redesign and checkout flow optimisation for a premium skincare brand. Tested hero layout, trust signals, and add-to-cart positioning over 6 weeks.
Cart drawer upsell module and free shipping threshold test for a fashion accessories brand. Split tested three bundle configurations against the original cart experience.
Cart drawer vs full cart page testing for a lifestyle DTC brand. Tested upsell placement, shipping threshold messaging, and trust signals above the checkout button to reduce drop-off before payment.
Our AB testing service is built for Shopify and Shopify Plus brands that have traffic but aren't converting at the level they should be. If you're generating 10,000+ monthly sessions and want to turn more of that traffic into revenue, structured experimentation is the fastest route to sustainable growth. We work best with ecommerce teams who value data over opinion, who want a dedicated testing partner rather than a one-off audit, and who are ready to commit to continuous improvement. Whether you're a founder looking to scale, a marketing team trying to improve ROAS, or an ecommerce director building a performance culture, our SiteLab model gives you the team, tools, and process to make it happen.
See if we're a good fitEffective split testing on Shopify requires the right combination of testing, analytics, and behavioural insight tools. We use platforms that integrate cleanly with Shopify's architecture, giving us reliable data without adding unnecessary page weight. From AB testing and heatmapping to attribution modelling and customer analytics, our stack is built to support fast, confident decision-making at every stage of the experimentation process.
It depends on your traffic volume and the size of the expected effect, but most tests run for two to four weeks. We never call a winner early. Every experiment runs until it reaches 95% statistical confidence, which ensures the results are reliable and repeatable. For stores with higher traffic, tests can reach significance faster, which means we can run more experiments per quarter.
We primarily use Shoplift, which integrates natively with Shopify themes. This means we can test layout and content changes at the theme level without injecting heavy client-side scripts that slow your store down. For deeper behavioural analysis, we combine this with Microsoft Clarity for heatmaps and session recordings, GA4 for funnel tracking, and Triple Whale for revenue attribution.
As a general rule, AB testing becomes most effective with 10,000+ monthly sessions. That gives us enough data to reach statistical significance within a reasonable timeframe. If your traffic is lower, we can still run tests on high-traffic pages or focus on qualitative research, UX improvements, and conversion fixes based on behavioural data rather than split testing alone.
Statistical significance tells you whether the difference between your original page and the variant is real or just random noise. We test to a 95% confidence level, which means there's only a 5% chance the result happened by chance. This is the industry standard for making reliable decisions. Without it, you risk implementing changes that looked like winners but were actually just variance in your traffic.
The number of tests depends on your traffic, the complexity of each experiment, and how quickly we reach significance. Most brands on our SiteLab testing plans run two to four experiments per month, with multiple tests running concurrently across different areas of the store. We focus on quality over volume. A well-designed test that reaches clear significance is worth far more than rushing through ten inconclusive ones.
Not with our approach. We use Shoplift specifically because it operates at the theme level rather than injecting JavaScript overlays on top of your live pages. This is a common problem with generic testing tools that weren't built for Shopify. Our setup keeps your page speed intact, which matters because slow pages hurt conversion rates and undermine the very thing you're trying to improve.
